It’s been a very long time since I’ve been back here. If anyone is still reading, I’m very grateful. A lot has happened in the last six months: I’ve finished my doctoral degree, started a new job, and moved to a new city with my partner (incidentally the new city is only new for him and our life together, not for me; it’s my hometown). I’m starting to feel settled now. I love the kitchen in our new apartment, and I’ve been working through my cookbooks steadily. I don’t know if I will be posting here frequently, but I’m not yet ready to say goodbye to this space, even though it feels like I could live without most food blogs these days.
Perhaps it’s getting older that is doing this to me, but I feel very certain that the time for everything is now. With that in mind, I want to start tackling some of the cooking goals that have been floating around on my mind for awhile. I will list them here and hope to get to them over the next six months.
Braised short ribs (easy: why have I been putting this off?)
I’ve been cooking from Prune, Around My French Table, All About Braising, and The Art of Simple Food, most recently. Next month, I will be trying a few recipes from Patricia Wells and Joel Robuchon’s Simply French. Have you made anything from the list above? Do you have cooking fears/goals you’ve tackled recently?
